Created for a leading western wear retailer, the Boot Care Basics series provides useful information in a shareable format for use on social media. Inspired by our target consumer's interest in cowboys and western U.S. folklore, the design evokes classic western style with elements such as simulated cowboy boot stitching, aged paper background and appropriate use of typography. The informal, yet matter-of-fact, tone of the copy is intended to appeal to those who identify with the no-bull, "straight-shooter" ethos.
To achieve the best presentation on diverse platforms, each of the numbered Boot Care Basics designs was optimized for two aspect ratios. The example on the left (see below) was designed to occupy as much space as possible in the Pinterest platform's layout, thus the tall and narrow aspect.
The four examples on the right (see below) were designed around the Instagram platform's aspect ratio requirements at the time, knowing that they would also look good on Facebook.

The idea came when our boot sales specialists mentioned the poor condition in which some customers tried to return their boots. I saw an opportunity to create some shareable content that could educate customers as well as improve the bottom line.
